Faith founded FRL as an act of rebellion against the juggernaut of fast fashion, the environmental damage it causes, its harmful and exploitative system of labour, and the consumer habits it actively encourages.
Every single piece of clothing that is made at FRL is made because it is wanted and considered.
Materials
FRL has been exclusively using fabrics made from natural fibres since the beginning of 2026 as part of a commitment to no longer use fabrics made with synthetics and plastics. Before that Faith sourced deadstock fabrics as well as fabrics made from natural fibres.
The FRL Hero Fabrics are sourced from a Lithuanian supplier Faith has been working with for years. Lithuania has a deep historical tradition of weaving linen, and our suppliers weave their linens using 100% European flax and are OEKO-TEX certified and use dyes that are kinder to the environment. These fabrics are never ‘over ordered’ but instead the focus is on smaller quantities to create intentional batches.
Construction
We make our clothes on a ‘Made to Order’ model, meaning they don’t exist until they are ordered. FRL does this to minimise the amount of fabric wastage as well as challenging the overproduction and consumption method used by fast fashion brands. Customers are encouraged to take their time and ask questions to make sure they get the perfect fabric, style and fit. The designs are all made from patterns that were drafted by Faith with an eye towards minimizing fabric wastage and creating enduring silhouettes.
Labour
FRL started as a one woman business in 2020 and has grown over the years to form a small core team of local seamstresses and admin support. Every member of the FRL team is paid above the London Living Wage and has flexible working patterns to ensure a healthy work and life balance.
Everything that you see and order from FRL, from pattern development and design to cutting to assembly to packaging happens in the studio in Brighton or with our seamstresses in their personal work spaces. We work in small batches to manage workloads and ensure that the quality of the finished garments is always a top priority.
Ethos
At the very core of FRL is the philosophy of buy well, buy once. Every single FRL style was designed to be timeless and be something you will treasure and wear over and over. We hope that when you place an order, it’s for something that you will wear over many years. We believe in a clear and transparent supply and production chain. FRL is committed to transparent pricing (see the Instagram page for cost breakdowns) and being a vocal and visible supporter of slow and considered fashion where everyone is celebrated and respected.
Made to order pieces have a wait time of approximately 4 weeks while we cut, make and quality check your order.
For international customers duties and taxes are now collected at checkout so there will no surprises when your ordered arrives to you.
Delivery details and estimated delivery times
UK: We use Royal Mail tracked 48 service.
EU: We use a courier service that bulk ships to the Netherlands once or twice a week. From there they use DHL to deliver your parcel. Delivery time is approx 10 days.
USA: We use a courier service that uses commercial planes for ship to the USA. Delivery time is approx 4-7 days.
Rest of world: Delivery time is aprox 7 working days.
Since everything is made to your measurements and specifications I don’t offer returns. For information on refunds please refer to the refund policy.

"I absolutely love my pinafore Luna in charcoal tartan, it has accents of red, yellow, white, and green, and and sailor collar and a belt. It’s beautiful, fun and whimsical, perfect for the Canadian winter, and it’s reconciling me with dresses (I can never find dresses that work with lots of curves). And Faith suggested measures between 2 sizes. Also it has no plastic in it, and it’s made ethically, ecologically, and no human and non-human being was exploited making it. . I’m in love!"
"Do it! Buy the dress. It is THE best winter dress. It has a wonderful weight and it is soo warm. I am from Canada and wear an XL. I think an XL would have fit me fine, but I purchased the XXL in the quilted Luna because I also opted for the neck and wrist ribbing and it works so well with the oversized fit I wanted.
