FAQ
Made to order
What does ‘Made to Order’ mean?
Fast fashion works on a model of ready to ship, their factories produce hundreds of thousands of garments every day whether they are wanted or not, and often without thinking about the garment will fit on the person ordering it. With fast fashion you never enter the equation.
With the exception of the ‘Ready to Ship’ section of the shop, I don’t make a dress unless it has been ordered. Every single piece that leaves the studio doesn’t exist until it is ordered and because I work this way I am able to reduce fabric and materials wastage. We cut everything by hand to your exact measurements and customisations.
Why are your dresses so expensive?
Because fast fashion operates in a quantity over quality it is able to make more pieces on a larger scale which is why the prices are often a much lower price. There’s another side to that lower price: by using fabrics made from plastic and synthetic fibres, underpaying garment workers and cutting corners where it really matters.
I wanted to create something that not only didn’t contribute to this system but actively fights against it, and this is something that will always be an ongoing process and priority at FRL.
There is so much work that goes into every order. I spent weeks (months and years!) carefully designing products that will last and transcend fickle fashion trends with both those in production and customers in mind. I carefully pick what kind of fabrics to get and where to get them from. I also factor in production and who is working for me and what they need to get the most out of their work with FRL. Currently I work with a small team of women who support FRL as freelance seamstresses and admin.
How do I order something?
It’s easy! You start with either ‘Shop by Fabric’ and then pick your style or ‘Shop by Style’ and then pick your fabric. Each style has customisations that you can select so the dress you order fits you and your style perfectly. Then once you’ve done that you add it to your cart.
The other option is you can reach out to me via Whatsapp, email or Instagram if you want to order something a bit more custom.
What if I’m nervous about ordering?
I get it, especially if this is your first time ordering. The best part about ordering from my small business is I’m right here. If you have questions about fit, style, fabric or customisations you can send me a message on WhatsApp, an email or a dm on Instagram. I love talking to you.
Why is there a wait time?
FRL makes clothes that are wanted and considered, so when you place your order that’s when the ball starts rolling.
We cut your order in the studio in Brighton. This takes time as we cut everything by hand and ensure all alterations have been made correctly. A batch of orders then heads to our seamstresses who work from home. They make your clothes then return them back to us in the studio ready for the next batch. We then lovingly pack up your order and send it to you. All orders take approximately 4 weeks from start to finish.
If you don’t want to wait, you can take a look at the ‘Ready to Ship’ section of the shop. With those pieces there is no wait time but they are not able to be customised.
Good things take time but I think this is well worth the wait.
I want to know more! Where can I do that?
If you aren’t already, you can sign up for my emails! This is where I go into talking about fabrics, special custom orders and chat about life in the studio. I’m also on Instagram @faithrowanleeves where I post photos of gorgeous pieces and talk about.
Can I use Klarna, Paypal or Clearplay?
Nope! I have been asked if I offer any of these payment options and I don’t and don’t plan on it.
Fabrics
Where do you get your fabrics from?
I work with a supplier in Lithuania to design and manufacture my Hero Fabrics that are 100% European flax and OEKO TEX Certified.
I also work with deadstock fabrics I source from my suppliers in London and Italy. This year I fully committed to only working with fabrics made from natural fibres. What this means is I am even more selective when sourcing gorgeous deadstock fabrics and you can know that the fabric will not only look good but also feel good on your body.
What is a Hero Fabric?
Hero Fabrics are FRL exclusive, you literally won’t find them anywhere else because I work with my Lithuanian suppliers to design and produce them. I started working with Hero Fabrics in 2026 because I wanted to slow things down even more and really take the time to celebrate the fabrics I work with. I've planned out all of 2026 and I’m so excited to share them all with you!
We tend to release one per month so sign up to my my emails to never miss anything.
Can I send in my own fabric for you to use?
YES! I love it when customers do this. You get the dress you want, in the fabric you want, with the customisations you want - basically your ultimate dream dress.
To get things started you can reach me on WhatsApp, email or Instagram.
