Two Very Special Chanels for the Start of September
I’ve been getting the studio ready for the shop opening on 03/09 (only a couple of days away!) and I wanted to tell you a bit more about the two very special fabrics that will be making their FRL debut…
Raven Chanel
This Chanel is a gorgeous bouclé fabric which means it is slightly heavier weight and has a texture that gives it a lot of depth. Raven Chanel is elegant, chic and a bit grown up so I decided to make a Sleeveless Luna Dress as a sample- I love that the shirt I styled it with gives the whole look a little added drama while still feeling wearable.
The fabric composition is 48% cotton and 52% synthetic (I know, I feel like Chanel should be doing better than that!) The weight of this fabric is a bit lighter than the Colourful Check Jacquard I had last year so I would say it's a medium weight and is good for 3/4 seasons we have here in the UK.
There is enough of this fabric to make 18 pieces.
Because of the composition and weight of the fabric, these will be the available styles to order: Luna Dress, Luna Top, Molly Dress, Painter's Shirt, Frankie Dress, Tate Trousers and the Joan Dress.
Blue and White Check Chanel
This is the second Chanel fabric I chose, I loved how the pops of yellow and deep rose looked against the antique white and light blue. A fabric for those who love bold patterns and texture (this fabric is also a bouclé weave) I decided to make a sample in a Hybrid Luna Dress because you can't beat the classics!
The fabric composition is 61% cotton and 39% synthetic (a little better but still...) Just like the Raven Chanel, the weight of this fabric is a bit lighter than the Colourful Check Jacquard I had last year so I would say it's also a medium weight and is good for 3/4 seasons we have here in the UK.
I also decided to leave the selvedge on the waist line like I did on the Chanel dresses I made in January of this year, the texture was just too good!
There is enough of this fabric to make 18 pieces.
