In case you missed it last week I posted on my Instagram about the fabric that should have been launched this week for Batch 34. I hated it.
I bought it from a deadstock supplier and when I got the sample swatch it was like this crisp poplin cotton (which I loved!) but I didn't quite feel the crunchieness. So I started making a Luna Dress with a Joan collar because I thought it would be amazing but I'm not happy enough with it, so I'm not going to launch this fabric...
That's when I turned to my email subscribers and Instagram followers.
Really my business is about fabrics, finding and sourcing fabulous finds and telling you their story. So when I asked what people wanted in a post on Thursday there was a definite theme.
I then took a look at the fabrics I had in the studio and found two that I thought would work. The first was a mustardy-ochre linen cotton blend with blue lines going one way and really subtle orange lines going the other way. The second was a check linen with dark purple and a lighter grey-purplish with red on either side.
I then took to Instagram and email to see which one would be chosen.
We had our winner! Because I only have enough of this fabric to make around 7 finished pieces depending on what styles are ordered I decided to not make up a sample. It's an incredible mid weight linen so I really think it will see you through all of the seasons cool or warm! The colours were so rich I couldn't help but think of a thistle flower, so the name Thistle Check Linen only seemed right.
Let me know if you would like to have more of a say in what fabrics are selected each week or if you like for it to be a total surprise. This was a fun (if a bit mad) process of choosing a fabric for the weekly batch, a true team effort!
Thistle Check Linen will be launching on 17/09/25 at 9.30 gmt for email subscribers and at 10 gmt for everyone else.
