The Fabric Story of Tomato Gingham
I love fabrics with colour.
I also loooove the texture and weight of linen. So when I saw the opportunity to create a new gingham back in January I knew I wanted it to be something really special...
I wanted this gingham to work with the other ones I already had in the shop while offering something new and different.
This gingham went through a couple of iterations before I ended up with the final fabric.
Initially I was drawn to the combination of pink and orange, two colours I think are delicious together. But the pink kept looking more like lilac so I changed direction and started looking at reds. I wanted something that felt like it belonged in the sunshine, for those first warm days of spring into the long hot evenings of summer.
Good things take time (6 weeks!!) and the bolts of fabric were delivered in February. I couldn't wait to feel the fabric for myself and wow was she more than worth the wait! Obsessed is an understatement. The reds have a bit of orange to them so the name Tomato Gingham popped to mind.
I immediately got to cutting up samples.
